Szczawnica is a health resort located in Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Nowy Targ district, where the municipal and rural commune authorities have their residence. The town is situated on the border of the Western Beskids and the Pieniny mountain range, by the Grajcarek stream. This famous health resort is adjacent to the impressive estuary of this stream to the Dunajec River. This is the final stop of the Dunajec River Gorge rafting, being widely popular with visitors due to the beauty of nature and river meanders found there. The therapeutic character of Szczawnica is determined by the mild climate and medicinal mineral water springs. In addition to the health- giving facilities, visitors can use skiing and trekking bases, well-developed there. A few years ago, Szczawnica underwent a thorough renovation.
